Donnabelle Casis' paintings are studies in contrast; her imagery alternatively references both oncological images and fantasy. Casis moves paint like an Abstract Expressionist but references the human body like a medical documentarian. Unlike artists who have employed medical themes in the past, Casis uses such allusions as a metaphor for bold painting. Expressive gestures activate tension between the form and ground.
