September 28, 2025 - January 25, 2026
Art for The Soul Gallery is excited to announce the opening of its latest exhibition, The Power of She, showcasing the works of Malaika Ross, Angela Alés, Nora Valdez, Donnabelle Casis, Aura Pan, Eva Lin Fahey, Louise Laplante, Lilly Nimmer, Rosa Ibarra. The exhibition will open on
September 28, 2025 and run through January 25, 2026, featuring a dynamic collection of works across various mediums.
Our upcoming exhibition honors our founding director, Rosemary Tracy Woods—a
pillar of the Springfield arts community. Her vision, dedication, and tireless support for
artists have shaped both our gallery and the city’s cultural landscape. We love her
and are proud to carry her legacy forward.
The Power She is an all-women and femmes exhibition that asks us to think about
what it means to reclaim space—physically, emotionally, and culturally. Too often,
femininity, whether expressed by women, femmes, or non-binary people, has been
confined to rigid definitions, cultural scripts, and expectations that come with
consequences. What we reclaim here is the freedom to define ourselves, to draw from
womanhood or femme identity in ways that are authentic rather than prescribed.
“For me, the power of She is about reclaiming femininity in all its forms. That
includes women, but also femmes, trans, non-binary people, and anyone whose
expression of softness, vulnerability, or feminine energy has been policed,
punished, or misunderstood.”- Gallery Manager, Christina White
Executive Director Sierra Myers shares, “We’re excited to invite such a talented and
diverse group of women and femmes in our gallery space. Historically, women and
femme identifying people have been confined and seen as less than, and it is our
mission as a black-women run gallery to uplift the voices that are otherwise silenced.”
The opening reception will take place on September 28, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm, and
will be open to the public. Bill Myers and some artists will be in attendance to
discuss the works and engage with attendees. Light refreshments will be provided,
and the event is free to attend.
“This exhibition isn’t about narrowing down who “she” is. It’s about expanding it.
It’s about reclaiming the right to define femininity without being bound to
anything. It’s collective reclamation, but also deeply individual.”
– Creative Director & Chief Curator, Bill Myers
